Research is the systematic process of collecting and analyzing information or data in order to increase our understanding of the phenomenon with which we are concerned. Research is not merely information gathering but also information discovery which leads to expertise and accurate reference skills. There are two major philosophical school of thought positivism and post-positivism that are important perspectives for contemporary social research. Most social research undoubtedly originates from some general or specific problem. Research requirements are best met if research endeavors are underpinned by a minute and careful consideration of the previous as well as on going researches. Main emphasis in this book is on quantitative research techniques.
