Summary: "Entire book will interest scholars and students of Ferré's writing, but Chapter 6, 'Ferré's Search for Identity in English Translation,' should also interest translators. Hintz compares Ferré's translations in The youngest doll (HLAS 54:5000) and Sweet diamond dust (HLAS 52:4993) with original works (Papeles de Pandora and Maldito amor, respectively), and shows that Ferré significantly altered her work, softening or even eliminating numerous explicitly erotic and anti-North American passages"--Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
