Unakoti in north Tripura enjoys singular distinction in possessing colossal rock-cut sculptures with tribal features forming a class by themselves. The 8th-9th century sculptures are venerated by the ancient people of the region like the river Ganga and Varanasi in the entire country. Brahmanical sculptures have also been influenced by the tribal culture.
